OB Resident in Focus: Ged Armstrong
Name & Role:
Just call me Ged (pronounced Jed btw, I know, it’s a melt). I’m a TikTok Content Creator & Consultant.
Elevator Pitch:
I do two things:
Help businesses expand their brand awareness, drive sales & cultivate community on TikTok through delivering organic video content strategies.
Create high quality content for brands on TikTok.
Business/Career goal for 2022:
I have 3 pursuits for 2022 that I want to accomplish:
Firstly, apply my 4+ years of TikTok and brand building experience into creating one of the best TikTok courses on the internet. The goal is to help as many people as possible scale their business through TikTok, but I can’t help everybody on a 1:1 bases - hence the course.Secondly, launch a business that works to solve a lot of the problems I faced as a content creator over the last 5 years. I.E, not knowing my value, overworking & underpaid, not knowing how to position myself & essentially teach creators how to monetise their skill sets and the different mediums they can apply their skills to grow their personal brand to get bookings.Third, would then be to integrate the two. Create an eco-system that connects brands to creators. There are businesses setting up now doing a similar thing but no one has a system in place to ensure the content creators know how to get brands results on TikTok. But, if they complete my course then I’ll be confident that they will be a high value content creator that is a worthy investment for a brand.
This will essentially solve two problems: Creators being underpaid Brands making an investment & not getting results
The outcome? Happy creators and happy businesses :)
What excites you most about your role?
I love applying my creative thinking to solve problems and get results. One of the best things is being able to wake up everyday knowing that I can design my day however I please. I also love meeting new people, especially those on a high vibe.
What’s the biggest lesson you learned as an entrepreneur during covid?
Being motivated, driven or talented at something means nothing if you don’t have the right belief systems. For years I talked down my potential & my abilities because I believed I wasn’t worthy of good things and as a result I hit a ceiling for what I could accomplish. Then, I started to become aware of my thoughts and negative self talk and began to reprogram my belief system to have a much more positive outlook on life. When tough things happen I no longer fall victim to blaming myself, calling myself stupid or telling myself I’m not meant for this or that. Now I believe that I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to, that I deserve good things happening and good things come :)
What advice would you give to entrepreneurs right now?
Two things. If someone has accomplished something great, then you can too. We’re all born with massive amounts of potential. Yes, there will be people who have it easier than you but there’s also people who have it worse than you. So begin opening your mind to the idea that you can win and you’ll become the type of person who does. Secondly, don’t fall victim to shiny object syndrome. You’ll see other people doing fun and interesting things and might believe you should switch up and do what they’re doing because what you’re working on right now is difficult. Remember, the grass is greener where you water it. You’ll never achieve success if you keep succumbing to distractions. Pick something and remain focused on your why.
Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you:
I grew up in a council estate in one of Northern Irelands most deprived areas so I was always hustling in school selling sweets, flipping things on eBay, doing what I could to make money so I could afford to buy new camera gear or equipment for a better computer. Can confirm it worked out pretty sweet haha.
If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?
Either become a class break dancer or have the ability to eat more than one five guys at a time.
Who is your dream business mentor?
Jack Butcher. Owner of @visualisevalue. I followed the instagram page when it had around 2k followers 2 years ago and since then he’s grown it to 650k followers across IG and Twitter, a 7 figure business and become a respected authority figure in the web3 space. I admire people who are continuously curious and never get too comfortable when they achieve success in one area.
Where can people find out more about you and your business?
Probably my website - www.visualged.co.uk or get me on social (@visualged) on pretty much every platform :)
