Future Tuesday - In Conversation With Scarlet George on Ethical AI

Date: Tuesday 11th February Time: 5:30-8:00pm

Future Tuesdays is a monthly events series hosted and run by Future Screens NI. At each of these events, we will be focusing on a particular aspect of the industries we work with, inviting speakers to tell us about their experiences within the industry, their projects and how they think the industry will change for the better.

Hosted by Professor Paul Moore, Future Tuesdays is back with a new and exciting format. This month will focus on Leaders in Innovation Scarlet George and Incisiv.

Barclays Eagle Labs and Bank of England "State of The Economy” Presentation

Date: Thursday 13th February Time: 8:00-10:00am

Frances Hill, Bank of England Agent for the Northern Ireland Bank of England to host an informal breakfast lecture on The State of the Economy.

Attendees will get an up-to-date overview as to the state of the economy and an insight into the workings of the Monetary Policy Committee (which in turn controls the economy).

Frances will be interested to hear local views as to how the economy is seen, this will help inform Frances for when she has to report back to the MPC.

This is a chance to express your views to Frances and help in directing the monetary policy of the UK.

NI Science Fest: Beers & Careers

Date: Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th & Wednesday 19th February Time: 6:30pm-8:00pm

Beers & Careers is a series of informal meet-ups for anyone interested in developing careers in a range of STEM-focused areas.

Beers & Careers events are for you if you’re one of the following:

Recent graduate in a STEM subject,

An undergraduate who’s looking at the careers market,

Considering changing from a non-STEM discipline and interested in hearing from excellent companies in a range of sectors

Or just anyone else who’s interested

Each night, has a different focus, with a different blend of companies looking for different skill sets:

Engineering and life sciences (Monday 17th Feb)

Creative, digital and web (Tuesday 18th Feb)

Software development (Wednesday 19th Feb)

Some of the city’s top employers will be there to talk very briefly about opportunities, what they’re looking for in people, and why these companies are going to be the backbone of the Belfast economy but in a laid back and fun environment. Beer (regular and non-alcoholic), coffee, tea and snacks available throughout the evening.

Don’t worry about shirts and ties, don’t worry about CVs, just bring questions.

IoT Belfast 27 - Smart Industry Meetup

Date: Thursday 20th February Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm

IoT Belfast is a regular meetup event in Belfast, we aim to bring together people from across industries and different walks of life to discuss and learn about the Internet of Things, and how it may relate to their lives and business.

Intelligent Transport will be the theme for February's IoT Belfast.

Applications now open for Platform at The Pixel Mill

Deadline: Wednesday 12th February 2020 at 12 noon

Platform is the new accelerator programme for video game companies in Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland Screen is seeking teams that are passionate about video games and are motivated to establish and grow their company. They want teams that can bring fresh ideas to video game development with the goal of self-publishing. game based on an original IP within 12 months.

As part of Platform, companies will receive:

Up to £60,000 in development funding per company across 3 stages;

Up to 12 months of office space and access to meeting space;

Market Attendance - Gamescom and EGX;

Access to mentors covering game design, marketing, and production;

Access to QA and user testing facilities to gather feedback for the project.
