Resident in Focus: Danielle Hashemipour, Customer Success Manager at Pitchbooking

We caught up with resident, Danielle to find out more about her role with Pitchbooking, their start-up story so far and the biggest lessons she’s learned along the way.

My Name & Role:

Danielle Hashemipour, Customer Success Manager at Pitchbooking

50 Word Elevator Pitch:

At Pitchbooking we simplify the bookings process for sports facilities. Our software solution makes it easy for facility owners to manage their facilities, payments and bookings while also reducing admin. We help make sport accessible to everybody, acting as the online marketplace for sportspeople in local clubs across the country.

Goal for 2019:

We have a big product update coming in Jan 2020 so the goal is to finish out the year strong and fully prepared for the new and improved Pitchbooking. We have also set some internal KPI’s that we hope to hit upon the execution of our Q3 marketing strategy. It might seem fairly standard but it's our first time codifying targets for marketing so we're excited to execute on our strategy.

If you could take one person out for coffee who would it be and why?

David Attenborough. The stories this man could tell and the insight he could provide would be second to none. And that voice! I’d definitely get him to record a voicemail message for me.

If you had to enter into a talent show what would you do?

Bake my signature (aka stolen from Nigella Lawson) white chocolate and cranberry cookies. I’m not above bribing hypothetical judges. And they taste really good.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned while working within a startup?

It really is all hands on deck. My actual role is Customer Success but my day to day ranges from Business Development to Marketing to Customer Success to absolutely anything I can do to help us achieve what we need to achieve. I’ve learned how to work with a tech/dev team, something that is new to me coming from a non-SaaS background.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I cry at everything. Sad bits in movies, sad TV ads, any picture of any dog ever - all of them.

Name one resource (book, podcast, newsletter etc) that has impacted your approach to business.

'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg. Not only has this book impacted my approach to business but my personal life too. As a self-diagnosed (former) procrastinator, this book was essential in changing my mindset when it comes to productivity. It’s not just about setting goals but rather the science behind how you can give yourself the best shot at achieving them. The follow-up book 'Smarter, Faster, Better' is also worth a read.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant, what would it be?

I’m currently learning to play the piano and as somebody with no musical background, it has definitely been a challenge. Professionally, I want to learn how to code. If I could pick up a skill instantly I’d be happy with either one of those.
